WHAT TO EXPECT:
A GREAT COLLAR! Our collars have been road tested for over 4 years now on Mastiffs, American Bulldogs, Great Danes, Standard Poodles, Labradors, Pit Bulls, Mutts and one “I don’t know what that is but boy is she fast and can she swim!” aka Betty. They have gouges in steel, worn down past finishes to the brass, brought in tree limbs through dog doors and had killer Pug attacks to the leather and still go strong!

LATIGO LEATHER
-Latigo means “girth strap”—the strap that braces the saddle under the horse’s belly: very tough. Just think how important that strap is on a saddle!
-The tanning process removes stretch

WHY 1 1/2 INCHES WIDE?
Besides looking nice, the wider leather is better proportioned to larger necks. Control is easier, the collar does not cut in as much (less likely to damage windpipes), and it is more difficult for wrestling dogs to get their teeth under.
-Dogs can still choke…it is the owner’s responsibility to properly fit collars and supervise their pets
SIZES:
-Comes in standard sizes 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30
-Other sizes would be custom orders (and we love custom orders! Since we cut the leather ourselves, any size is possible from tiny to giant...as long as it fits on a cow!)
HOW TO SIZE:
“Size” refers to the largest hole on the collar. Each collar has 5 holes at 1 inch spacing. For example: a size 20 ranges from 20 to 16 inch holes (20, 19, 18, 17, 16). Obviously targeting the center hole gives the most range for adjusting the collar.
SPECIALTY SIZING:
Our smaller custom collars may be labelled with "SPECIALTY SIZING". This is the one situation where we leave the industry standard...in order to give you a greater value (and a better looking collar). It is the industry standard to size small collars the same as large, but that leaves almost no open space available to decorate (this is a personal pet peeve). Our way the collar adjusts more precisely to the smaller animal and the collar itself can be more ornate. Size still refers to the largest hole on the collar and there are still 5 holes. Spacing is reduced to 1/2 inch. For example: a size 16 ranges from 16 to 14 inch holes (16, 15 1/2, 15, 14 1/2, 14).
HOW TO MEASURE:
Measure the dog’s actual neck size where the collar naturally rests (comfortably place the measuring tape or string: do not pull tight or let hang loose for “extra space”). For example if the dog measures 20 inches at the neck…then a size 22 inch collar would be suggested. (The center hole is 20 inches.) We use standard collar sizes, if you have one now that you love and it is a standard commercial product, they SHOULD be the same. You can also measure your current collar: measure from the hole you are currently using to the inside edge of the buckle (where the tip of the prong meets the buckle).
