East and West

The Ballad Of East and West
By Rudyard Kipling
1889

OH, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God’s great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth!

This is one of my favorite poems...and part of a larger piece (that I highly recommend).

What is fascinating to me is how often it is quoted...to the opposite of its meaning.

Too much of our lives is taken out of context and then applied.
